Lifting this song from a 1948 Edward G. Robinson film noir outing, Coltrane makes it his own with no small help from the powerhouse that is Elvin Jones. The drummer drives the tune, seamlessly jockeying between Latin and swing feels with complete finesse and the right weight of authority. Tranes mastery of his instrument and his art are displayed through the distinctive, confident tone and the unfolding development in his insightful improvisation. Tyner steps inside the changes with his usual fearless aplomb while Davis is rock solid throughout.
