Paul Motian: Mumbo Jumbo

Intriguing track featuring a unique lineup, written by an iconoclast composer and one of the best drummers in the business. Motians skills as a bandleader and composer usually overshadow his playing, and Im sure thats the point. While the looseness of this piece and the textures of the front line (three guitars and two reeds) make for an almost quilt-like sound, all the melodic weaving adds up to an interesting and singular performance.
