Thelonious Monk: Green Chimneys

Green Chimneys was a new composition on this date, named after the school Monks daughter attended. At nine minutes in duration, this track is the longest on a Grammy-winning album, which is made up of three remarkable quartet sessions. Monk, already winding down his career at the helm of modern jazz, brought in his partner Charlie Rouse for the final time.
